The Clean Gulf Associates ( www.cleangulfassoc.com) has acquired the aptomar oil spill managment system for their HOSS Barge (High Volume Open Sea Skimmer System). HOSS is one of the most advanced long duration offshore oil spill collection system in the world. The skimmer system is built right into the hull of the barge. Skimming operations are conducted from the control room overlooking the skimmer deck. Up to 4100 barrels of recovered oil is stored in four 1,025-barrel in-hull tanks.
With the aptomar oil spill managment system onboard the HOSS is outfitted for automatic oil spill detection and information of where to use the skimmer for collecting more oil, in a shorter period of time, at a lower cost, through the availability of the relavite thickness of the oil, and estimation of its volume and drift.
