Oil spill monitoring
Strain on the environment due to increases activity, and operational complexity is one of the most challenging areas of focus for all offshore operations. An accident can cause harm to both sea life as well as the coastline, leading to irreparable damage to the fragile maritime ecosystem. SECurus is a tool that can minimize exposure to oil by increasing efficiency of the assessment process and by helping operators implement counter measures where it will have the greatest effect.
- Monitoring
The SECurus will aid the operator when monitoring the oil spill, showing the extent of the medium and thickest parts of the oil.
- Tracking
The SECurus will track the movement and changes in formation of the oil spill and will give an indication and track record on the earlier and future oil spill movement.
- Mapping
The oil spill viewed in the videos can be mapped over to the navigation chart, giving an indication where the operation should focus the lens pumps and dispergation for the most effective result. The navigator can use this information when maneuvering the vessel for optimal effect.
- Documentation
All information of the oil spill, its movement and extent will be logged and saved for further analysis or post decision making.
- Information sharing
All information viewed through the SECurus system can be shared to an on-shore installation in real time.
